Joshua Stancil

I take finance, ops processes, and internal software off a founder/CEO's plate, then build the systems that run them.

I've done this as a CFO, a Head of Technology, and a founder's second in command. I run product and engineering teams, and I build AI tools myself.

What I do

Finance

Run the numbers and decide where money goes

I own the financial model, the forecast, and the board report. I price the work, line up bank and equipment financing, run diligence on acquisitions, and check that each investment paid back.

Operations

Open locations and keep the plan moving

I launch new markets end to end: licensing, leases, hiring, training, and local crews. With the founder, I set the quarterly plan, give each goal an owner, and follow up every week.

Software

Design the system and ship it

I set the architecture, write the user stories, and run sprints with engineers. I also write code myself with AI agents, in Next.js, TypeScript, Swift, and Supabase.

AI

Point AI at real business problems

I build AI tools on top of company data, limited by each person's permissions. They find unbilled work, flag accounts likely to go bad, and answer questions about the business in plain English.

Case studies

One operating platform

The company ran on spreadsheets and three systems that didn't connect, so every report was assembled by hand. Two earlier attempts to fix this had failed. I took it over, hired three engineers, and we built one platform on a single database: CRM, dispatch, billing, collections, two iOS field apps, and dashboards, used by about 250 people. Sage Intacct stays the general ledger, connected to everything else. Staff can query the data with AI, limited to what their role allows.

Inside the platform

Screens from the running system. Names, company identifiers, and financial figures are blurred.

AR dashboard with receivables by aging zone, and open invoices listing an AI-written status and risk flag, with one status expanded to show the reasoning. Names and amounts are blurred.
AR dashboard. Receivables by aging zone against finance targets. AI writes a status for open invoices, flags risk, and gives a write-off score with its reasoning, so collectors see which accounts need attention first.
Dispatch map with color-coded job pins, one technician's ordered route, and a team list showing each person's utilization. Names are blurred.
Dispatch map. Jobs by type, each technician's route and drive time, and team utilization for the day.
Technician schedule calendar beside an assistant panel offering questions about the day's schedule. Event details are blurred.
Dispatch assistant. An AI panel that sees the day on screen and the team's reference docs.
Collections workspace table with stage, priority, and point-of-contact columns. Job numbers and customers are blurred.
Collections workspace. One queue for open accounts, with stage, priority, and owner on each.
Take payment dialog with options to charge now, send a link, or record a check. Job details and amounts are blurred.
Field payments. Charge a card, send a link, or record a check from the job.
Work-in-progress report with earned revenue, backlog, over and under billing, and gross profit cards, all values blurred.
WIP report. Earned revenue, over/underbilling, and gross-profit slide by branch and project manager.
Marketing dashboard with lead and booking cards and a daily lead chart by branch. Values and the chart scale are blurred.
Marketing dashboard. Lead pace and booking rate, from company level down to branch, rep, and partner.
Lead pipeline board with columns by booking stage. Card contents are blurred.
CRM. The lead pipeline, by booking stage.
Internal documentation page describing a read-only MCP server that lets AI assistants query the data warehouse.
Data connector. A read-only MCP server that lets AI assistants query the warehouse in plain English.
Launcher listing the platform's applications, including customer care, dispatch, project management, records, and data.
The suite. Every internal app, launched from one place.
